[For all that the implant wigs her out, at least the instantaneous, built in GPS is cool. It doesn't take her long to get there, and hey. The dance studio is pretty cute.
( he opens the door but a few seconds later, an' steps back from it with a flourish meant to imply she's welcome to enter.
it's a small place, precious little more than a shoebox. it's mostly one big open room except for the bathroom, but it's squeaky, spotlessly clean an' his bed's obscured behind some sort of pleasantly decorated privacy dividing screens. he doesn't seem the least bit abashed by the smallness of the space, but then — he grew up in a different time, to be sure. )
Can I interest you in a glass of sweet tea, or are you rarin' to get on out an' shop?
[Kate doesn't seem bothered by it, either. While her childhood home in Manhattan was massive, she's had plenty of friends who lived in places this tiny. She grins at him as she slips inside.]
Well, 'bout as authentic as you can get when half the ingredients don't exist in a manner you're accustomed to. But it's pretty damn close to the real thing, if I do say so myself.
( he's proud of havin' perfected his recipe here, okay? puts him right back on his porch outside agathine, sittin' with his brothers an' tabby an' listenin' to the katydids. )
( far be it from him to deny a lady! he heads back towards the tiny kitchenette off to one side an' rifles through the fridge. he has determined he likes these a great deal more than the old ice box he's got back in agathine that needs to be drained every few days an' restocked if he wants to keep anythin' cold at all.
he sets two glasses on the sliver of counterspace an' then pours the drink with only a little bit of a flourish. ice clinks in the glass. then he leaves the pitcher out on the counter (in the event that they want more, you see) an' turns to offer her a drink. )
Careful, you won't want to go back to normal water after this.
( some doors, once opened, can't be closed again! )
[Kate grins, performing a fake little curtsy in response as she takes the glass. She is... not at all southern, so she's definitely not a sweet tea expert.]
Are you saying you never drink water, Gene? Is that your expert medical stance?

I mean, if that's a dealbreaker then you couldn't possibly want any of the pie I made the other day neither.
