Chicken and dumplings is an old favorite. My brothers asked for that one about as often as we had chicken to eat.
My best friend's Ma was from Trini, and she taught me how to make Pelau chicken and pigeon peas. Liked that one too, though mine ain't half so good as hers.
I like paella too.
And yeah, I know, but I like the feeling of having something in my hands. Something real. Just seems impersonal somehow to use the interface.
Well, I'd suppose they're fairly specific to regions and times if I had to guess? Food changes as folks do. We don't hardly keep up with trends five hundred years ago, neither.
What's origami? If you don't mind my asking.
( it didn't come to america until the fifties, an' it weren't like alabama was particularly up on trends comin' from the japanese anyhow. )
[It's also just as likely she's never heard of them because her views on food are still somewhat limited. It's easy to assume the problem is her most times.]
Maybe. But I imagine some things stick around too. Make them for me sometime?
It's folding paper into different shapes. I'll show you.

I guess it's one reason I've been making a lot of origami things. Just to have something.
