Oh, he's all right. Married. Three daughters, one's just at an age where she's starting to run circles around us, and I bet you dollars to dimes the other two ain't far behind her! His wife's an angel, I swear to the Lord. Helps me run my veterinarian clinic. Reckon he and I would both be plumb lost without her.

Well, marriage ain't for everyone. Reckon my brothers expect I'll be an eternal bachelor at this rate!

And yeah, as am I. He deserves a little peace and quiet. Agathine's real good for that, though. I think every now and then about moving back to New York, but I don't know if I have the taste for city life any more.

Agathine is peach country, thank you, I travel outta the city limits for most of my calls.

And Lordy, did they ever clean up the East at all? Bad enough to gag a maggot and then some in my day.

Most folks claimed patriotism or glory in my day, but it wouldn't surprise me overmuch if that went and changed as the years went by.

but a lot of people just want to get out of their shitty towns and go to college

Well, reckon a higher education is a pretty admirable thing to have, all considered.

I was never much one for it myself.

Some folk learn better by doing, is all.

it's easier to feel things out

I surely do. Lot of the War was like that for me.

Though I took to college afterwards, I was never quite comfortable in that classroom setting. Lucky it weren't too long.
